All of the more than 5,000 gadgets seized at the border are kept by customs

All of the more than 5,000 gadgets worth UAH 93.5 million seized at the border are kept by customs. Given the reports in some media about an “attempted theft of UAH 100 million worth of seized contraband gadgets from the customs warehouse", the Transcarpathian customs of the State Customs Service informs that those reports are not true. Recall that in the beginning of June of this year, at the customs post "Uzhgorod", employees of the Transcarpathian customs of the State Customs Service prevented the illegal import of mobile phones and office equipment. A DAF vehicle arrived at the customs post and the driver submitted documents for the customs control, according to which spare parts for cars were being moved across the customs border. During the customs inspection, customs officers found mobile phones and accessories, as well as office equipment of SAMSUNG, APPLE and other brands hidden from customs control. After that, the customs officers began painstaking work to establish the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of each item and spare parts for cars. And it takes months! Because there are more than a few thousand items. After the calculation, a report on violation of customs rules under Part 1 of Art. 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine was drawn up and an expert was employed to assess the seized goods. As of today, the total number of gadgets is 5,206 worth UAH 93,594,343. In addition, the number of spare parts for cars was established – 17,050 pcs., their value is being established by an expert. At the same time, law enforcement agencies have opened criminal proceedings over this incident, investigative actions are underway. Currently, all the items are kept at the facilities of the Transcarpathian Customs until all the circumstances of the crime are established. No attempts to break into the seized goods storage location have been recorded.
