Alcohol, cemetery, barrier, death. A tragic accident has occurred in Transcarpathia

In the village of Verkhnye Vodyane, Rakhiv district, a man was killed as a result of the collision of a car and a barrier.  The driver was drunk, – the Transcarpathian police reported.

The police opened a criminal proceeding. The person responsible for the accident was arrested.   

Yesterday evening, October 20, Rakhiv hospital reported to the Rakhiv Police Department that a man, who had been injured as a result of an accident, had died in an ambulance vehicle.

The victim was a 56-year-old resident of the village of Verkhnye Vodyane, Rakhiv district. As law-enforcement officers found out, on that day the man was at a party with his relatives and friends.  At about 4 o’clock, being in a state of intoxication, the company decided to go to the local cemetery.

The "Nissan PATROL" was driven by a 34-year-old nephew of the victim, a resident of Verkhnye Vodyane, in a drunken state. There were three passengers in the car.

While entering the cemetery, the drunk driver lost control and drove into a half-open barrier. It got into the cabin of the car, first injured the front passenger, and then fatally injured the man who was sitting in the back seat. The victim died of his injuries in an ambulance vehicle.

The police opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Violation of traffic safety rules, which caused the death of the victim). The person respponsible for the accident was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. The circumstances of the tragic accident are to be established by the investigation. The vehicle was taken to ​​the Rakhiv police impound lot.
