Ukraine and Hungary signed the Agreement on the Cross-border control at road and railway border crossing point.
The head of the State Border Service of Ukraine Mykola Lytvyn announced this after a solemn ceremony on Friday, informs UKRINFORM.
‘The signed today agreement will promote the simplification and acceleration of the cross-border control at the checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border. This agreement will provide an opportunity to relieve the work on the “Tysa” checkpoint’, – noted M. Lytvyn.
He reported that the signed document includes the creation of the joint contact point at the Hungarian checkpoint ‘Zakhon’. This will allow the parties to collect, analyze, share and information exchange. In this context, Lytvyn said that two similar points have already been operating on the border with Poland and Russian Federation.
According to the Head of State Border Guard Service, the next step of cooperation with Hungary in the cross-border sphere will be an agreement on the joint border control.
In his turn, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary in Ukraine Mikhai Baier emphasized that the signed agreement will make it possible to expend the functionality of the five border crossing points for the trucks movement, to reduce the congestion of the ‘Chop-Zakhon’ checkpoint, create comfortable conditions for both states citizens.
He also noticed that this agreement will become the legal basis for the use of European investment which will be allocated for the reconstruction of five checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border.
