After yesterday’s bad weather, 22 settlements in Transcarpathia are left without electricity supply

Due to the severe storm, squally wind, heavy rain and snowstorm, which swept over Transcarpathia partly on October 28 and on October 29, 2017, electrical grids of several districts of the region were severely damaged. In particular, due to falling of trees on the lines, damage to insulators, etc., 217 transformer substations, 22 settlements in full and 13 in part were cut off. Rakhiv, Uzhgorod, Khust, Mizhhirya districts were affected the most; Svalyava, Tyachiv, Velyky Berezny – to a lesser extent.

On Sunday, the repair teams of the "Zakarpattyaoblenergo" were sent to repair the broken lines. In total, in the region, 160 people (24 crews) have been working since yesterday, 35 units of special equipment are engaged.

On October 30, 2017, the repair works continue. According to specialists of the "Zakarpattyaoblenergo" PJSC, the main difficulty is that most of the power lines breakdowns were caused by the fall of trees in the mountains, in hard-to-reach places.

As of 8.00, 170 transformer substations, 14 settlements in full and 10 in part remain cut off. By afternoon, according to preliminary estimates, up to 90 percent of all breakdowns will have been repaired. By the end of the day, according to the plan, all the settlements of the region should be connected to the power supply.
