After the election, the government plans to introduce additional duty on imported gasoline

As of December 1, 2012 the duty on imported petroleum products may be imposed.

 – The Government has decided to start special investigation and to introduce duty on imported petroleum products – said Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Yuriy Boyko. – This will allow us to ensure the work of our refineries.

Such concern for Ukrainian factories can hit the pockets of ordinary drivers. According to experts, in addition to import duties, authorities plan to index excise duty on petrol and diesel.

The second important factor in pricing is the exchange rate, which this market directly depends on.

The price of gasoline by 55% consists of "oil" component and by 35% of taxes, excise duties, denominated in euros and VAT. Thus, every 10 kopiykas in dollar rate are equivalent to 6-7 kopiykas in price for a liter of fuel.
