The concert of the National Honored Academic Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine took place in Uzhgorod within the framework of the traditional, eighteenth festival of contemporary and classical music "Musical Constellation of Transcarpathia". According to the head of the Transcarpathian organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine Victor Telychko, this is an outstanding cultural event, since the orchestra performed in Transcarpathia only in 1997 and 2003.
For reference. The National Honored Academic Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine is one of the most well-known symphony groups in Eastern Europe. Known until 1994 as the State Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, the collective was formed on November 25, 1918, by the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian State and approved by Hetman Pavlo Skoropadsky. This orchestra celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. The artistic director and chief conductor of the orchestra is Volodymyr Sirenko, People’s Artist of Ukraine, winner of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine.
