The guide for super-mobile ones and those, who want not just to turn the wheels, but also to see the most interesting places in the most beautiful region of Ukraine, was presented in the capital of Transcarpathia.
The presentation of the tourist guide "Your next trip to Transcarpathia" was held in the Uzhgorod Press Club. Are you planning a cycling tour in Transcarpathia? But you do not know where to go or where to start the journey? In this case, this guide is what you need.
The guide contains a description of 8 different in length and complexity bike routes. The description of bicycle trails includes the length, approximate duration, recommended seasons for trips, as well as an overview of interesting things along the routes. The guide also contains a list of cycling-friendly organizations, cycling events, as well as a brief Rusyn dictionary for travelers.
Natalia Voloshina, the expert of the NGO "Agency for the Promotion of the Sustainable Development of the Carpathian Region, FORZA", told about the purpose and the creation of the guidebook. "The guide was created within the framework of the Slovak-Ukrainian project "Bicycles without borders", which took place in 2016-2017, and was aimed at improving cross-border cooperation in planning and creating cycling routes in Prešov and Košice regions of Slovakia and Transcarpathian region, – Natalia Voloshina noted. – The guide was prepared with the financial support of the Kingdom of Norway and the Government of the Slovak Republic."
Serhiy Stepchuk – the author of the guide, ethnographer, active tourist – told how he became a cycling enthusiast. "In 1997, I bought my first bike, the first trip was from Sobranetska street to the Shakhta and then to the country houses. Then there was a trip to Nevytske. This simple route, which takes just 2 hours, opens the guide, – Serhiy Stepchuk says.– In general, the publication contains 8 routes of varying complexity and length: from the simplest to the most complex." The guide was designed by Serhiy Stepchuk himself, besides photos, there are illustrations, maps, infographics in it.
The guide is not for sale, it will be distributed through cycling organizations, tourist centers to anyone, whom the publication may come in handy. Soon, the guide will available online in electronic format.
