On December 4, at 18:00, in the Transcarpathian Regional Library (Svoboda ave., 16), there will the presentation of the book "Our Others.Stories of Ukrainian Diversity".
The "Choven" publishing house presents the collection of reports on national minorities and the realities of the life of ethnic communities in Ukraine. The project was implemented with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.
Armenians, Germans, Meskhetians, Jews, Romanians, Swedes – Ukraine is home to dozens of different peoples. Reporter Olesya Yaremchuk visited many settlements, from bustling cities in the Donbas and Bukovina to quiet villages of Bessarabia and Transcarpathia, to document how our national minorities live today and what memories about their past they preserve. The book "Our Others. Stories of Ukrainian Diversity" includes fourteen stories of individuals and peoples who make up the Ukrainian community.
The book "Our Others" is an attempt to tell the Ukrainian readers about the communities that are on the verge of different identities, languages and cultures. The idea of a project on national minorities arose at the end of 2015, and the first texts – in September 2016. Over the last three years, the online magazine "The Ukrainians" has published nine articles that are available on the site in a multimedia format.
