A 37-year-old woman from Uzhgorod, previously convicted of theft, stole an iPhone 5 from a student. Investigators opened criminal proceeding over this incident.
An 18-year-old student appealed to Uzhgorod police and said that in the morning she had come to a local cafe to have coffee. The girl left her iPhone 5 unattended on a table, and when she came back it was gone.
Local investigators, during the investigation, found a 37-year-old resident of the regional center, who already has a previous conviction for theft. Law enforcement officers found out that the woman had already sold the stolen phone to the pawnshop.
Investigators initiated criminal proceeding over this incident under Part 1 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft). During the preliminary investigation, the police will check the woman for possible involvement in other similar crimes in the city.
