January 5, 2013, the verdict of Tyachiv District Court of Transcarpathian region on Nyzhnya Apsha village head, who in March 2012 was detained for bribery, came into force.It was found out that the official had demanded and received from a local resident 12,500 dollars for the permit for preparation of technical documents of title to land. Officers of the Security Service of Ukraine detained the village head "red-handed" while receiving the full amount of the bribe in the office of the village council.The prosecutors instituted against the official a criminal case under Part 3 of Art.368 (bribery in a large amount) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Tyachiv District Court convicted the village head under Part 3 of Art.368 and sentenced him to 5 years in prison with probationary period of 2 years and disqualification to hold positions related to the implementation of organizational and administrative functions in state enterprises, institutions and organizations for two years.
