In the Strychavsky potik tract (Velyky Berezny district), the restoration of the ancient Roman-style arched bridge made of sand stone has begun. This structure, which is about 500 years old, is unique not only in Transcarpathia. It is possible that this bridge built with engineering precision without the use of cement is the only operating one in Ukraine.
– Six years ago, part of the bridge collapsed, after which it began to crumble – Hennadiy Moskal said. – This year, the repair of the bridge has begun, and the surrounding area was cleared of undergrowth and trash. It was decided that after the repair, a recreational area will be arranged in a clearing near this unique structure where travelers and tourists will be able to stay.
The restoration of the Roman bridge for the sponsors’ money is being carried out by employees of Uzhok National Park and concerned citizens.
