BG Voznytsky Foundation and the Transcarpathian Regional Local Lore Museum present a unique exhibition "Crowns of the World"
It is a unique exhibition of crowns, which features crowns from not only different countries, but also different continents, different eras. The retrospect exhibition of the main symbols of power of past eras includes crowns, headwear of spiritual and secular leaders from around the world, lost civilizations. The exhibition presents more than 70 masterpieces, some of which are originals, and some are copies, replicas and reconstructions of the exhibits from different museums in Austria, Italy, Great Britain, Romania, Egypt and other countries.
The exhibition presents the crown of King Danylo Galician and imperial headwear, including Napoleon’s, Russian and Roman emperors’. In addition, the exhibition includes: UK, Greece, Poland, Romania and other European countries. A separate part of the exhibition consists of headwear of church bishops, wedding crowns. Among the ancient world crowns, there are reconstructions of the crowns of Nefertiti, Tutankhamen, the kings of Sumer and Assyria. Each of these masterpieces could be a decoration and leading exhibit of any museum or collection.
Although the exhibition has a distinct humanitarian and educational purpose, it also has a patriotic and statebuilding mission. Historically, the crown has been the artifact embodying the idea of state. After all, ruler’s headwear is a symbol of spiritual or secular authority, reification of great service and great responsibility of people endowed with such power. Even now, royal crowns are one of the greatest state relics, symbols of continuity and succession of state-building efforts. The project aims at strengthening and development of the country, raising national identity awareness, which turns population into the people, the nation.
This unique project makes a significant contribution to the noble cause of coverage of the past event for the sake of laying the foundations for the future. The exhibition will be held in all regions of Ukraine. We expect a fruitful cooperation for a very needed revival and preservation of spiritual virtues, cultural and artistic heritage.
The opening of the exhibition will take place on 23.02.17 in the chapel of the Transcarpathian Regional Local Lore Museum at Uzhgorod, Kapitulna st., 33.
