A Ukrainian tried to import a car with forged identification numbers

Last Wednesday, about 11.00 pm, at the checkpoint "Uzhgorod", a minibus "Volkswagen" released in 2001 entered Ukraine.

The driver provided supporting documents for the vehicle, according to which the vehicle was entering the territory of Ukraine for the first time.

So, border guards together with officers of the SFS decided to conduct in-depth inspection of the vehicle. As a result of the inspection of the body number plate, an inspector of the Border Guard Service questioned its authenticity. The doubts were the grounds to call a forensic expert.

The vehicle was detained for examination which revealed that the identification number of the body had been manually applied on the piece without a number, an then welded in the car body.

The van was seized by the SFS employees. Its cost is about 90,000 UAH.
