Last night, border guards of the Chop detachment prevented another attempt of cigarette smuggling at the checkpoint "Tisa". Border guards had received from the operational and detective department the information about possible transportation of cigarettes in a minibus "Mercedes".
Therefore, upon arrival at the checkpoint, the vehicle was sent for the in-depth inspection, during which border guards together with customs officers found two caches. The fuel tank and the hollow space under the passenger seat were equipped for accommodating nearly 500 boxes of cigarettes "Marlboro".
As a result, the cigarettes and the minibus were seized. The total value of the confiscated items is over 263,000 UAH.
