Today, on September 12, 2019, a van Mercedes Sprinter with a Ukrainian registration arrived at the customs control area of the customs post "Uzhgorod" of the Transcarpathian Customs. The vehicle was driven by a citizen of Ukraine who was going from the Czech Republic to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian chose the "green corridor" for customs control. Thus, the citizen stated that he was not transporting any goods subject to a written declaration, customs tax payments, prohibitions or restrictions on the importation into Ukraine.
During the customs control, customs officers found 245 liters of Gambrinus beer, in particular 185 liters in tin cans and 60 liters in metal kegs. The beer was located in the luggage compartment of the van.
A report on violation of customs rules under Article 471 of the Customs Code of Ukraine was drawn up and 240 liters of beer were seized pending court ruling.
Citizens who have reached the age of 18 may import beer into the customs territory of Ukraine in luggage without paying customs duties and without a written declaration in amount of 5 liters of beer per person.
