A Ukrainian and a Moldavian wanted to make some money, but instead lost their cars

Протягом минулих вихідних прикордонникам Чопського загону вдалось запобігти кільком спробам незаконного переміщення сигарет через кордон.

Over the weekend, border guards of the Chop detachment prevented several attempts of illegal transportation of cigarettes across the border.

In the first case, a citizen of the Republic of Moldova attempted to unlawfully deliver tobacco products to Hungary through the checkpoint "Tisa" using the car "Mercedes" registered in Italy. The cigarettes were detected using a special endoscope, because they were hidden in the structural cavities of the front and rear fenders of the car. As a result of the check, the police counted 837 packs of cigarettes "Chesterfield red." The tobacco products and the vehicle were seized. Total value reached 46,500 UAH.

A similar situation occurred at the checkpoint "Uzhgorod" on the Ukrainian-Slovak border. Our compatriot, en route to the neighboring country by the car "Fiat" registered in Ukraine, failed to pass the border and customs control as quickly as he would like to. And even more – he had to say goodbye to his car since in the spare wheel between the protective part of the muffler and the bottom of the car, border gurds and customs officers found 250 packs of cigarettes "Marlboro Red". The car and the cigarettes were seized and estimated at 55,500 UAH.
