A Transcarpathian, who was the first to record the ballad “Hey, plyve kacha po Tysyni”, was awarded with the “Golden Bear”

The 80th anniversary of the soloist of the Transcarpathian Folk Choir, performer of folk ballads Vira Bahanych was celebrated in the Transcarpathian Regional Art Museum. In 1960’s, the singer was the first to professionally perform the ballad "Hey, plyve kacha po Tysyni", and in 1972 recorded it at the record company "Melodiya".

Vira Bahanych heard this folk song from his mother in 1959. Later, the known band "Pikkardiyska Tertsiya" made their own interpretation of the ballad, and in 2014 it became the requiem for the people killed on the Maidan during the Revolution of Dignity and the war in Donbas.

During the celebration, there was the presentation of the new record, which included the most famous songs of the outstanding singer.

Hennadiy Moskal presented Vira Bahanych the highest award of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration – "For Merits to Transcarpathia" (popularly called "Golden Bear").
