The relevant department of the regional prosecutor’s office supported the public prosecution in the criminal proceeding against a citizen L for the commission of an offense under Part 1 Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal transportation of a person across the state border of Ukraine).
According to the head of the department for supervision over observance of laws by bodies of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Customs Service and State Border Service Oleksandr Vasilenko, based on the evidence collected, the prosecution proved in court that the Transcarpathian had agreed and organized the transportation of a 29-year-old citizen of Moldova to Ukraine without passport control due to the loss of documents by the latter.
However, the foreigner was found by officers of the State Border Service and Customs Service of Ukraine, during the inspection of the vehicle in the luggage compartment of the Transcarpathian’s car.
Therefore, the court having considered the evidence, sentenced the defendant to imprisonment for a term of 3 years with exemption from punishment under Art. 75 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine with the probation period of 1 year.
