A Transcarpathian was sentenced to three years imprisonment for evading from mobilization

By the verdict of Tyachiv district court, a Transcarpathian was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment with a probation period of two years for evading call for mobilization (Art.336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The man was found guilty because he, being registered with the Tyachiv district military commissariat as a peson bound to military service, in July this year underwent a medical examination, according to which, the medical commission declared him fit for military service, and received a personal call to report in Tyachiv district military commissariat to to dipatched to the military unit in the city of Mukachevo.

However, he failed to report in the specified time and date, violating the requirements of Part 3 of Article 22 of the Law of Ukraine "On mobilization preparation and mobilization". In addition, the Transcarpathian failed to give a reason for his absence, thus evading from military service without good reason.

To note:

Art. 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – evading conscription service on mobilization – is punishable by imprisonment for a term of two to five years.
