Right in the territory of the customs post, in the town of Chop, a 56-year-old local woman sowed and cultivated 580 poppy plants. The illegal plantation was found by the police.
As part of the operation "Poppy 2016", officers of the National Police found a clandestine poppy plantation.
As the police found out, right in the territory of the customs post in the town of Chop, a 56-year-old local resident sowed seeds of poppy. It gave 580 poppy plants that she was cultivating.
The police seized all plants and sent them for examination. A criminal proceeding over this incident was opened under Art.310 (planting or cultivation of opium poppy or cannabis) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of fine of 100 to 500 tax-free minimum incomes, arrest for up to six months or imprisonment for up to three years.
