A Transcarpathian blew up a grenade during a quarrel with his wife

Officers of the Svalyava Police Department opened a criminal proceeding and arrested a man who, during a quarrel with his partner, blew up a grenade.

Yesterday, the police received a report about a family quarrel in Svalyava. The police officers, who arrived at the scene, found out that a 36-year-old man had quarreled with his 23-year-old girlfriend. The woman fled from him to her friends, but the suspect found her, came there and continued the quarrel. He took a grenade and began to threaten. After that, the man threw it from the house to the yard, where it exploded. The police are establishing the brand of the grenade and how the man managed to get it. Nobody was hurt by the explosion.

The police officers arrived immediately after the incident and detained the man.

A criminal proceeding over this incident was initiated under Part 1 of Art. 296 of the CCU, that is, hooliganism with the use of firearms or cold weapons or other objects, specially adapted or made for causing bodily harm. Such an offense is punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to seven years. The man has already been notified of being suspected of this grave crime.

The resident of Svalyava was arrested in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine, the choice of a pre-trial restraint is being decided. The suspect has already been convicted for causing severe bodily harm and violations of the rules of administrative supervision, as well as property crimes.
