While the participant of the Sochi Olympics snowboarder Annamary Chundak was staying in Uzhgorod for a short period, a journalist of the "Novyny Zakarpattya" asked about the condition of our athlete before the upcoming important event in her career.
– We began training for the Olympics in June and almost till the end of November we were training in the Swiss mountains at a height of 3.5 thousand meters above sea level (four training sessions lasting three weeks). We were also training at the Transcarpathian ski center in the village of Kostryno – Annamary said.
How would assess you readiness for the Olympics?
– In the national team, another 4 athletes were training with me for the winter Olympic. At a recent round of the World Cup I came 22nd. It was sort of a trial test before the Olympics. I feel that I can perform much better. On January 10, there will be the next World Cup round, where I will prove my readiness. At the moment I feel great, full of energy and enthusiasm to perform adequately and compete for Olympic medal in Sochi.
Did you have an opportunity to test the Olympic track in Sochi?
– Last year in February, a test round of the World Cup was held there, and I participated in it. It’s a good track, there are slopes with drops of different complexity – I liked it. But, according to the latest information, it has been slightly altered.
Representative of which countries do you consider your main rivals?
– All participants have passed a tough selection to go to the Olympics. Of course, the strogest representatives of this sports are traditionally German, Austrian, Russian and Swiss snowboarders…
PS At the Universiade, which finished recently in the Italian city of Trentino, Annamary showed the best result in the Ukrainian national women snowboarding team and won the 7th place.
