A solar power plant instead of a landfill: a bold project is being implemented in Tyachiv district

Helios Strategy JSC (Dnipro) has built a 10 MW solar power plant on the site of the former landfill (Tyachiv district of Transcarpathian region).

"There used to be an illegal landfill on these lands in the "Verkhnye Pole" tract. At the beginning of the project implementation, the territory was cleared, and instead they built a facility that provides additional revenues to the village budget and created jobs,” – the head of the Tereblya village council Ruslan Yanchi said.

The plant covers an area of 20 hectares and consists of 44 thousand solar panels, five transformers, 198 inverters. The generated electricity is sold at the “green” tariff to the common grid. The station was launched at full capacity in June 2019, although it was scheduled to be put into operation by the end of 2018.

"Tthere were some technical issues. At the expense of the investor, they did a complete reconstruction of the high-voltage power transmission line in the village of Ruske Pole and modernized the power substation in Dulovo, which provides uninterrupted power supply to the Tereblya Valley villages,” – Yanchi said.
