A resident of Mukachevo was sentenced to 7.5 years improsonment for the murder of his own father

The pre-trial investigation and court hearings in the case of a 57-year-old resident of Mukachevo who killed his 82-year-old father have been lasting for more than a year. The man, who stabbed the pensioner while being intoxicated during an argument, was sentenced by Mukachevo City Court to 7.5 years in prison.

In November last year, in the night, paramedics reported to Mukachevo city police department that in private home in Mukachevo they had stated the death of an elderly man. Also, doctors reported that the pensioner had not died a natural death. One penetrating stab wounds to the chest was fatal for the old man.

Upon the arrival of the investigative team of Mukachevo city police department, law enforcement officers found in the house an old sick mother, who witnessed the event, and their 57-year-old son. As it turned out, having returned home drunk, the wayward son began to aggressively respond to comments of the elderly parents. When he was out of threats and abuse, the son picked up kitchen knives and began to show his skill by throwing them into the wall unit…

Finally, infirm parents could not stand it and began to scold their only son. The quarrel did not last long. The drunk man grabbed a knife and stabbed his father in the chest… When blood splashed from the wound and the old fell down on the bed, the son washed the knife and called an ambulance. The old man died in the bed before medics arrived – Natalia Mashiko, Mukachevo city police department reported.

That same night, the suspect in the murder was arrested on the grounds of Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Murder." During the investigation and trial, the defendant did not admit his guilt, claimed that he had only defended himself from his father…
