Yesterday, Transcarpathian customs officers caught a man, who was trying to transport across the Ukrainian-Romanian border cigarettes hidden in the double bottom of the minibus trunk. The 46-year-old driver from Chernivtsi was going to Italy with several passengers in a minibus Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. In the customs control zone of the customs post "Dyakovo" he chose the green corridor, thus stating that he was not transporting anything hidden across the border. However, meticulous customs officers decided to conduct an in-depth inspection of the vehicle. As a result, in the floor of the minibus luggage compartment, they found a double bottom "stuffed" with cigarettes of different brands in total of 748 packs. Currently, customs officers are documenting violations and drawing up a report under Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. The minibus used to transport goods hidden from customs control, according to preliminary estimate, worth 20 thousand dollars, and the tobacco products worth up to 40 thousand hryvnias were seized pending the court decision.
