This week, inspectors of the anti-smuggling and customs violations fighting service of the Chop customs at the checkpoint "Luzhanka" prevented the illegal import of a fancy SUV "BMW X5", worth 209,000 UAH.
As a result of the inspection, conducted together with Hungarian colleagues, it was proved that our compatriot had provided for customs clearance a package of documents for the imported 5-year-old "BMW X5" with low customs value. As the Chop customs found out, the actual value of the vehicle was not 16,900 euros but 20,400 euros.
As the 41-year-old resident of Cherkasy admitted, after the purchase of the car from a German company they had prepared double documents in two files. One was intended for customs authorities of the European Union, the other – for the Ukrainian customs authorities. However, customs officials immediately questioned the modest price of the jeep and compared it to that indicated in customs declaration drawn up by the customs authorities of Germany.
Therefore, for the provision of false information regarding the customs value of imported vehicle, the protocol against the Ukrainian citizen was drawn up under Article 483, Part 1 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. The illegal off-road vehicle was seized, and the materials of the case have been submitted to the court, which will determine the punishment.
