A repressed priest was honored in Mukachevo district

July 2, 2013, in the village of Letsovytsya in Mukachevo district, there was the dedication of the plaque in memory of Father Ivan Malyshko repressed in 1949 by the Soviet authorities. The priest endured the hardship not betraying his oath. And the repressive machine could not break him.

The plaque was consecrated by Bishop Nil, who in his sermon said that Fr. Ivan Malyshko with his example showed willingness to make sacrifices for the sake of faith.

Also the opening was attended by the daughter of Fr. I. Malyshko – Martha Peresta, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Martha Peresta shared her memories of her father’s persecution and told how it affected the fate of children, because after 1945 they did not knew if he would return to them or not.

City Council Member Oleksandr Peresta, who is the grandson of Fr. I. Malyshko, organized the tour for those wishing to participate in the dedication of the plaque in the village of Letsovytsya.
