A Rakhiv foreman sold… asphalt

The court sentenced a Rakhiv foreman, who had sold 3,500 kilograms of asphalt, to 1 year imprisonment

Recently, the Rakhiv district court verdict, that convicted the foreman of the branch "Rakhiv road operation section" of the subsidiary "Transcarpathian OBLAVTODOR" "State Joint-Stock Company "Motor Roads of Ukraine" JSC of the criminal offense under Part 2 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation, embezzlement, or obtaining property through abuse of office), came into force.

         According to Rakhiv District Prosecutor Yuri Belamut, following the investigation activities, the police officers documented the misappropriation of state property by officials of the branch "Rakhiv ROS". Thus, it was found out that the foreman of the branch "Rakhiv road operation section", having administrative powers, being a financially responsible person, acting intentionally, with selfish motives, had sold for 2,200 UAH, 3,500 kg of asphalt and concrete mix belonging to the branch "Rakhiv ROS", which caused pecuniary damage to the state, represented by the branch "Rakhiv ROS", and had appropriated the money in the amount of two thousand two hundred hryvnias.

        "Rahiv District Court appointed for the foreman the agreed by the parties sentence of one year imprisonment with deprivation of the right to occupy positions related to accounting and disposal of material goods for 1 year. On the basis of Art. 75 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine he was released from punishment if he does not commit a new crime within one year. The damages caused to the state by the crime were fully reimbursed" – the prosecutor said.
