A place of worship must not be on Khmelnytsky square – Shchadey

As the Acting Mayor of Uzhgorod Victor Shchadey commented yesterday to Uzhgorod.in by phone, he is convinced that the religious building must not be on Bogdan Khmelnytsky square (near the vehicle bridge). 

Fr. Kyryl, who yesterday consecrated a cross there, did that without permissions to install the cross there, let alone a place of worship. And even under the pretext of a good cause – commemoration of the Heaven’s Hundred – they can not perform unauthorized construction, especially without discussion with experts and the community.

Victor Shchadey said that they would deal with this matter. Presumably, they will discuss it at the Executive Committee meeting, which takes place now. 

We remind that yesterday, on B. Khmelnytsky Sq., Father Kyryl established a cross and announced the intention to build a place of worship there.
