Director Antonio Lukic spoke about his plans at the Re:Open Zakarpattia ideas and solutions forum.
According to him, cinema can help promote and develop the region.
"Cinema has historically attracted tourists to its locations. One can mention the path of the characters from the movie "The Third Man" when you’re in Vienna. The film "In Bruges" for many people became a drive to visit the gingerbread European town on Christmas Eve. Finland attracts everyone with the works of Aki Kaurismäki, and the locations of the series "Bridge" have long been popular tourist destinations… When screening "My Thoughts Are Silent" at international film festivals, I was thinking that, after watching my movie, residents of Lublin, London, or Luxembourg would one day decide to come see sakuras or to Kosyno thermal waters," – the director explained.
According to Lukic, there are already about 30 preliminary applications for the upcoming tour. "There are people who already want to come and spend their money in Transcarpathia," – he said.
