The Carpathian Biosphere Reserve informs that they are launching a new recreational project.
The first step was successfully started on March 4 with the meeting of the director of the reserve Mykola Rybak with Michel Jacobi, who is from Germany, but has been living in Ukraine for a long time and is reviving buffalo breeding in Transcarpathia.
They discussed the launch of a new nature conservation and recreation project in the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve, namely, keeping about ten buffaloes in the "Narcissus Valley" between April and October.
Michel also suggested that several horses of the Hutsul breed should be included in the buffalo farm for further recreational activities.
Mykola Rybak explained that both the nature conservation result from joint activities and the creation of new attractions for visitors in the Narcissus Valley are important for the reserve. These areas of activity and support for traditional farming are an important component of the tasks envisaged by the Project for Organizing the Territory and Conservation of the Natural Complexes of the CBR.
The next steps in collaboration with Michelle Jacobi are entering into an agreement, determining the location for the buffaloes in the Narcissus Valley and the shepherd.
At the end of the meeting, Michel presented employees of the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve the traditional international mountain buffalo cheese made according to the recipe used in the Swiss Alps.
