A monument to victims of the Holocaust is to be erected in Uzhgorod at the expense of the Hungarian government

The potential location for a Holocaust memorial, which is to be installed in Uzhgorod for the funds allocated by the Hungarian government, was determined by the acting mayor of Uzhgorod Istvan Tsap, the acting chief architect Mykhailo Ivehesh and deputy of the city council Zoltan Kulin.

It was suggested to establish the monument near the Regional Philharmonic – former synagogue.

After reviewing the area, they consulted and concluded that the rectangle behind the puppet theater, where the monument to Yevhen Fentsyk is situated, is already an integral space. Therefore, it would be appropriate to establish the new memorial by the river, off the Philharmonic building, near the entrance to the defunct children’s railway.

This proposition will be submitted to Uzhgorod historical and architectural city planning council for consideration. – the official website of Uzhgorod city council informs.
