July 19, about 14.00, in the village of Ternovo in Tyachiv district, a hit-and-run on a 12-year-old cyclist was committed. Having hit the child, the driver fled from the scene.
Soon, inspectors of Tyachiv district traffic police found out that the criminal offense had been committed by 17-year-old local resident. The boy took the car of his mother and went to ride. Already returning home, he drove onto oncoming traffic and hit a cyclist. Frightened, he fled the scene, hid the car in the bushes near the river and walked back to the scene of the accident.
Traffic inspectors found the hidden car, and the driver was taken to the district police department.
The cyclist was delivered to the hospital intensive care unit, where he died shortly after. The driver’s blood was taken for alcohol content test. The vehicle was delivered to the impound lot.
