A large group of illegal immigrants was detained near the border with Slovakia

Another group of illegal immigrants from the Asian region was arrested on December 11 in a settlement of Uzhgorod district.

While taking measures to combat illegal migration, Chop border guards were informed about a large group of unknown persons who had arrived to the border area. During the joint verification of this information, officers of the Chop border guard detachment and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region found in a house in one of the border villages eight Afghan citizens – five men, two women and one child. The people   had no documents, and said that they were going to get to Europe.

During the detention of illegal immigrants, police officers found in the house one citizen of Ukraine, a resident of Uzhgorod, who rented this room. Most likely he will be prosecuted in accordance with Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine) continue.

The detained migrants were delivered to the border guard unit and their further fate will be determined by the court. By the way, during this year, border guards of the Chop detachment have detained 175 immigrants from Afghanistan.
