Transcarpathian Regional Council Chairman Volodymyr Chubirko together with the Deputy Consul General of Hungary in Uzhgorod Laszlo Vida visited Uzhgorod school №2 to discuss the terms of learning Hungarian as the second foreign language there.
Volodymyr Chubirko said that lot of schools in the region are interested in this idea. Currently, the region is the home to a large Hungarian community and learning of the language will give new possibilities for communication, for young people. During the meeting, they discussed the arrangement of the form to learn Hungarian language in the school. The Hungarian partners are willing to contribute. "This is a very interesting project and we are ready to assist in its implementation", – Laszlo Vida stated.
Since the beginning of the new school year, 60 fifth grade students in the school №2 have been learning Hungarian. Also, it is planned to establish contacts with a school in Hungary. This will be an opportunity for internship of students and teachers in Hungary, and Hungarians will be able to have internship in the Uzhgorod school.
"It is interesting both for educators of Transcarpathia, and for partners from Hungary. In the school №3, we together with the Czechs managed to equip the wing, where they study the Czech language as the second foreign language. This project will be no less ambitious", – the Chairman of the Regional Council said.
