A 39-year-old resident of the village of Oleshnyk has developed malicious software to hack the accounts of social network users. After purchasing the software in a public messenger and installing it on their gadgets, customers could hack the accounts of social network users, and the hacker himself gained unimpeded access to his clients’ gadgets, the site Zakarpattya online reported.

One of the victims, suspecting that the purchased Internet product could be a hack, appealed to the police. He told the police that, after purchasing the application to hack accounts, he had realized that another person had access to his computer.

The police checked it and tracked down a 39-year-old resident of Vynogradiv district.

During the authorized searches at his place of residence, officers of the cyberpolice in Transcarpathian region found the computer equipment, mobile phones, bank payment cards and flash drives that were used for criminal purposes.

The defendant is to be indicted on charges of two crimes related to the manufacture and distribution of malicious software and interference with computers, ie under Articles 361 and 361-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation is underway, the Communications Department of Transcarpathian Regional Police informs.
