Yesterday, at the checkpoint "Uzhgorod", a service dog, trained to search for weapons and explosives, helped border guards to find ammunition for firearms which was being illegally transported across the border.
The passenger car "Skoda" with Slovak license plates, that had arrived at the border and customs control at the said checkpoint, was moving in the simplified control lane. However, the car immediately attracted attention of a German shepherd who is "an expert" in detection of weapons and explosives. In turn, the Slovak citizen, who was driving the car, neither orally nor in writing had informed the police about the transportation of prohibited items across the border, so the border guards with customs officers had to inspect the car more thoroughly.
During the joint inspection of the vehicle, in a niche of the left front door, among the driver’s personal belongings, they found 14 rounds of 9 mm caliber made in Germany.
The found ammunition, which the Slovak citizen recognized as his property, was seized.
