A Georgian with a diplomatic passport tried to smuggle cigarettes across the border (PHOTOS)

Last night, at the checkpoint "Uzhgorod", border guards of the Chop detachment together with officers of the fiscal service prevented an attempt to illegally carry a large batch of cigarettes across the state border. A citizen of Georgia with a diplomatic passport tried to carry them.

In the course of the border inspection of a minibus "Mercede-Bens Viano" with Czech registration, which had arrived at the checkpoint, a dog trained to search for tobacco gave a signal. This gave reason for an in-depth inspection of the vehicle.

However, the foreigner refused to submit the vehicle for inspection.  Therefore, a representatives of the Embassy of Georgia in Ukraine and the driver’s lawyer were called at the scene.

After that, in their presence, an inspection of the vehicle began; as a result, 21 bags of different sizes were found in the vehicle. In total, they contained 45 boxes of cigarettes. Their cost is currently being established.
