Border guards of the Chop detachment detained an offender who was wanted for committing a criminal offense.
During the patroling, the border guards from the Velyky Berezny department noticed an unknown man who was moving in the direction of the border and tried to climb over the fence.
The man was detained and taken to the department of the Border Guard Service "Velyky Berezny", where the offender was identified. It was a 26-year-old citizen of Ukraine who had run away from his place of residence in order to avoid criminal liability. During the questioning, he admitted that he was trying to leave the territory of Ukraine in order to avoid punishment.
The border guards also found out that the detainee is wanted by law enforcement officers of Luhansk region on suspicion of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 188 of the Criminal Code "Theft". The competent authorities imposed on the man a pre-trial restraint in the form of a prohibition to leave the house from 22.00 to 06.00.
The offender was brought to administrative responsibility for the attempt to illegally cross the state border and handed over to officers of Velyky Berezny district of the National Police, – the press service of the Chop border guard detachment reported.
