The prosecutors proved at trial the guilt of a former border guard in trafficking three immigrants from Syria across the border of Ukraine
The Prosecutors of Transcarpathian region proved at trial the guilt of a former border guard who was accused of illegal trafficking of three citizens of Syria accross the state border of Ukraine (Part 2 of Art.332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Last November, on the outskirts of a village in Beregovo district, the 36-year-old former officer together with the Syrians was detained by officers of Mukachevo border guard detachment while trying to illegally cross the border of Ukraine.
According to the senior prosecutor of the department for supervision over the observance of laws by the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Customs Service and the State Border Service bodies Vitaliy Shlyakhta, "We have proven in court that the former border guard, by prior agreement with unidentified persons, organized the illegal transportation of citizens of Syria to Hungary. He contributed to this with advice and instructions."
"Therefore, the court found him guilty as charged and sentenced him, according to Part 2 of Art.332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, to 5 years in prison, with 2 years probation under Art.75 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine" – the prosecutor reported.
