In the evening of August 23, officers of the patrol police response team of the Beregovo Department stopped a car Mercedes-Vito for violating traffic rules.
A 34-year-old local man with obvious signs of intoxication was driving the minibus. Law enforcement officers suspected that the man was under the influence of drugs, which was confirmed during a medical examination at the district hospital.
During the search of the car itself, the police found in the first-aid kit a gun with ten 9-mm rounds of ammunition. Also they found a homemade device for smoking marijuana – "bong". In the driver’s pants pocket, the police found a plastic bag containing a marijuana-like substance.
A pre-trial investigation has been launched under Article 309 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal possession of drugs). The choice of pre-trial restraint against the detainee is being decided. All the seized items were sent for examination. The car was taken to the police impound lot.
A report of administrative offense was also drawn up against the resident of Beregovo for driving under the influence of drugs. He is being checked for possible involvement in committing crimes in the district, the Communication department of the Transcarpathian regional police reported.
