Inspectors of the customs post "Luzhanka" at the Transcarpathian customs of the State Customs Service documented violation of customs rules by a Transcarpathian who tried to import a vehicle with three times reduced cost in order to save money on customs clearance.
Entering Ukraine in a minibus Volkswagen Transporter with the registration numbers of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, a 35-year-old resident of Irshava district chose the "red corridor" during customs control since the said vehicle was being imported to the customs territory of Ukraine as a commodity.
The driver presented the customs officers the relevant documents, including a contract of sale with the specified price of 3,000 euros. It was the "symbolic" price of the vehicle that attracted the attention of inspectors, who doubted the authenticity of the submitted contract of sale.
The Kingdom of the Netherlands’ export declaration and another sales contract were soon found, and both documents stated a much higher price of the minibus – € 10,000.
Therefore, the Ukrainian’s actions have signs of violation of customs rules provided for in Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.
Thus, the 2011 minibus Volkswagen Transporter worth almost UAH 330 thousand was seized pending court ruling.
