On August 28, a new tradition was launched in Uzhgorod: the brass orchestra of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region will give an outdoor concert every Friday. About a dozen works of different genres were performed by musicians in uniform on the busiest place of the regional center – Teatralna Square – in front of passers-by. 14 musicians of the orchestra and a new singer took part in the concert.
"Every week, we will be doing program of various music pieces: Ukrainian and Transcarpathian folk and, for example, Slovak and Hungarian, which are close to our countrymen, and pop. Of course, the emphasis will be on patriotic compositions. And we hope that our colleagues – brass bands of the Philharmonic, music schools and others – will support our initiative and we will perform for residents and guests of the city together," – the director of the brass band of the regional Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Police Major Oleksandr Belovych said.
The idea to launch "police concerts" was suggested by the new head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region Serhiy Knyazev. The colonel believes that such events may become a new cultural highlight of Uzhgorod.
It is expected that such performances of musicians in uniform on Teatralna Square will continue until at least November.
There is a reason to believe that the police resorted to such a measure to improve its image among the people. A few weeks ago, weekly public line-ups of the personnel were also initiated. And now, the formation of new Transcarpathia patrol police is actively taking place.
