A historic event took place in the native village of the famous Transcarpathian artist of European fame, the founder of the regional art school Adalbert Erdelyi – a capsule for the future monument to the eminent countryman was solemnly laid in the schoolyard.
The celebration was attended by respectful representatives of culture from several countries (members of the International Scientific Conference "Erdelyi readings"), heads of the district and the village, local community.
The idea to commemorate in this way the 125th anniversary of Adalbert Erdelyi in his native land was suggested by known cultural figures of the region Yuriy Hleba and Boris Kuzma. The latter said that the monument would be made by sculptor Adrian Baloh – graduate of the Transcarpathian Art Institute, who now lives in Kyiv and has gained a considerable recognition in professional circles, having created a number of monuments, some of them in the capital.
They hope to install the monument this year, maybe at the end of July, but it depends on financial support from the regional authorities.
