A resident of Mukachevo reported to the police that some man had called her from a hidden number, introduced himslef as a police officer, and said that her son had problems. The woman agreed to meet him on Uzhgorodska street, she suggested to resolve the issue in the police station, but the man refused. After that, the woman realized that she was talking with a scammer and appealed to the police.
Officers of Mukachevo Police Department found out that the man posing as a law enforcement officer was a 19-year-old resident of the village of Verkhnya Vyznytsya. The man could not explain his actions. The police opened a criminal proceeding over this incident under Art. 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, that is fraud. If the suspect’s guilt in proven, he faces a fine of up to fifty tax-free minimum incomes, or correctional labor for up to two years, or imprisonment for up to three years.
