348 local councils in Transcarpathian region of 351 appealed to the senior management of the country to support the country’s EU integration.
Recall that in February this year, during the session of the regional council, elected representatives adopted the European integration appeal. Deputies of our region proposed the leaders of the country to implement the planned measures for further full-scale European integration of Ukraine and the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union in November this year – the press service of the regional council reported.
Also regional deputies recommend local governments of Transcarpathia to support the appeal.
"We, members of the Transcarpathian Regional Council, endorse the statement of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on implementation of European integration aspirations of Ukraine and signing of Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.
Transcarpathia, which borders to four countries of the European community, for many years of inter-regional cross-border cooperation have been taking practical steps towards European integration.
As authorized representatives of local authorities of the most western region of Ukraine, we attest the advantages of close business cooperation with neighboring countries to address important issues in various areas of social life with a view to bringing it to the highest European standards.
Supporting this initiative of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, we ask the state senior management to accelerate the European integration processes in Ukraine, to adopt appropriate decisions at the legislative level and to ensure their implementation in practice. Also, to immediately take steps that would have shown the desire of Ukraine to observe the Association Agreement with the European Union, including the respect for the principles of democracy, human rights, fundamental freedoms and the rule of law, reform of local government" – the appeal states.
