9 years in prison: a resident of Mukachevo was convicted of premeditated murder

The Mukachevo City and District Court found a resident of Mukachevo guilty of the murder of his 65-year-old acquaintance and sentenced him to 9 years in prison (Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The crime was committed in May 2019 in Mukachevo, in the apartment belonging to the suspect.
As confirmed during the trial, during the fight, the suspect stabbed the victim at least six time with a kitchen knife. The man died at the scene from the injuries sustained.
Trying to cover up the crime, the accused took all the personal belongings of the victim out of the apartment to the trash dump and threw the knife into the local river. The body was staying in the bathroom for about 4 days until the suspect reported the crime to law enforcement.
Since his detention, the accused has been kept in custody in the Transcarpathian jail No. 9.
The verdict is currently expected to enter into force, the Prosecutor’s Office of Transcarpathian region reported.
