75th anniversary of Ivan Mykolaychuk in Uzhgorod will be marked by the screening of his film

On June 15, the Transcarpathian regional organizational and methodical center of culture invites moviegoers to watch the classics of Ukrainian cinema – feature film "Babylon XX".

The retrospective screening is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Ivan Mykolaychuk – Ukrainian actor, director and screenwriter, winner of the Shevchenko Prize. The artist had 34 film roles, nine scenarios, two director’s works. In particular, Ivan Mykolaychuk became known for the role of young Taras Shevchenko in the film "Dream" and Ivan Paliychuk in the "Shadows of forgotten ancestors" – Ukrainian masterpiece that won 39 international awards, 24 Grand Prix of film festivals in 21 countries and is listed in the Guinness Book of Records. Director Sergei Paradjanov praised the talent of Ivan Mykolaychuk, saying: "I do not know a greater national genius… Before him, it was Dovzhenko."

The film "Babylon XX" (based on the novel by Vasyl Zemlyak "Swan Flock" about the early years of collectivization of Ukrainian villages) at the time was a real phenomenon in the Ukrainian cinema. The "folk romantic fiction," as described by the author himself, absorbed the best that Mykolaychuk-actor, Mykolaychuk-screenwriter, Mykolaychuk-director and Mykolaychuk-composer could give.

The screening will be held in the hall of the Transcarpathian Regional Academic Puppet Theater "Bavka." The beginning is at 17.00. The admission is free.
