Hungarian and Romanian governments are opening the market for foreign workers and recruiting workers not only from Ukraine but also from Asia to fill the labor shortage, the Channel News Asia (CNA) and AFP reported.
In the case of Hungary, according to AFP estimates, 75,000 work permits were issued in 2019, mainly for Ukrainians, but also for Asians, such as Vietnamese, Chinese and Indians. This is up from 13,000 permits in 2015. According to statistics released by the Directorate General of Police for Foreigners (OIT) in September, more than 12,000 migrant workers arrived to Hungary in 2015, the numbers rose to almost 61,000 in 2018, and by the end of this year they will grow even more.
