In the spring of this year, apricots, peaches and nectarines were affected by frost in Transcarpathia the most. Experts predict a shortage of these fruits at 70%, the Ukrasadprom reports.
During 2015-2017, 1,5 thousand hectares of perennial plantations were created in Transcarpathia. In particular, 1 thousand hectares were planted with nurseries, 170 hectares – with gardens, 40 hectares of berry and lork, and more than 20 hectares of vineyards.
Now, there are almost 15 thousand hectares of fruit and berry plantations in all categories of farms in the region, including more than 2 thousand hectares in commercial agricultural production.
Under the Regional Program for the Development and Support of the Plant Industry in the region in 2016, agricultural enterprises were given a discount for the purchased seedlings. In total, more than 40 thousand units of planting material at more than UAH 1 million were reimbursed. This allowed to plant 18 hectares of fruit trees. The cost of purchased and installed irrigation equipment in gardening was also reimbursed.
